What has been happening? 01/18/2012
Since the return from Mongolia, I have been shooting a variety of shows. Live Events such as the Junior Judo Championships, corporate gigs I care not to mention. And a Jo' burg based show over the December month, whom came down to Cape Town called Selimathunzi, plus episode 7 of DIE VEGAS SHOW. The new year is upon us. I have had my break and I am ready to rock 'n roll. Holiday is over.... Add Comment Mongol Derby Pictures 09/22/2011
I <3 Mongolia... 09/19/2011
Mongolia... An awesome experience that I will truly never forget. The world's toughest and longest endurance horse race. A 1000km over 10 days set in the most majestic landscapes. You can truly almost touch heaven their. Another Cooked in Africa films production following Barry Armitage and Joe Dawson as they set out to win the Mongol Derby. A part of the Ride Series at Cooked. Check out the first season of the Ride to be on our screens in South Africa in October 2011 on SABC 3. Charly's Cake Angels... What a trip... 09/19/2011
In April 2011 I started freelancing for Cooked in Africa films, on their reality TV show called Charly's Cake Angels... The show is a South African rendition of Cake Boss, but with its own unique style and flavor. A truly South African production which is to hit the TV screens in South Africa in October 2011 on SABC 3. Hard work and hard play... always makes for a fun day at the office. Thanks guys for a rocking shoot. (On location in Zanzibar, Tanzania) AKSP Motion Pictures shut its doors at the end of February 2011. I have quickly settled myself at Cooked in Africa films. Check them out... www.cookedinafrica.com. A awesome company for which I have been shooting for since April 2011 on a freelance basis. Started out on a show called Charly's Cake Angels a South African rendition of Cake Boss. Also went to Mongolia to shoot the Ride 2. Things are epic and everybody rocks at this company. Stigma Trailer 03/03/2011
Stigma Trailer from Robert Beugelink on Vimeo. The first cut still needs to be graded. Thus the trailer is not graded either. Nigeria, Stigma Shoot. 01/03/2011
The last month of 2010, I decide to pick up a job to film a local educational movie on HIV/ AIDS for the Rivers State, in Nigeria. 3 weeks of sweat under armed guard with AK47's based in the bush in a small village called Obonoma in the Niger Delta. It was an awesome experience, looking back. The people were very friendly and always willing to help. We had a small crew, everybody was trying to do more then one job, sometimes more then two. It made things tough but we handled it. We finished the job. The crane and dolly were ridiculous fabrications. I have never seen something like that before. So makeshift I had a big lump in my throat every time I saw the red one being raised with it. I felt the anguish and pain the Assistant Camera Abiola was going through. It looked like it could snap off at any given time. Out of all the equipment I had requested, I received only 5 redheads, 2 blondes and 2 2 foot 4 bank Kino's. Its a miracle the distribution box never caught a light. Made from your general household plug points. Most of the shoot happened during the day. With no polly or scrim or blackout. We had to fabricate it all. Even my flicker box. With good old "Baraqaan" waving a way with a twig with a few leaves. Macgyver would be so proud, anything can be done. And if Macgyver can't do it I know plenty Nigerians who can. Now I am just waiting to grade the edit. Heritage Day.... Braai Day stills. 09/28/2010
Had some fun last week taking pictures of local Cape Town Comedian Paul Snodgrass. Can't say I ever thought I would have imagined this shoot taking place. Thanks Lady Gaga for the inspiration. The idea and concept originated, and was pulled off by no other then Tarryn Page. Finally I have my Open Water... 09/02/2010
Finally on the path to becoming a underwater cameraman, I just got my PADI Open Water, next up the Advanced, then a specialisation in Nitro and from there on to finishing my Dive Masters. The seed has finally been planted. The underwater world is like swimming in a giant aquarium. From the couple of dives I have done I am quite amazed at how colorful the seabed is around the Cape Peninsula. Can't wait to start the advanced course and hit the 30m mark. UMLILO Trailer Shoot 08/20/2010
AKSP Motion Pictures just did a shoot for a marketing trailer of a feature named "Umlilo". Exhausting work but we got it done. We would like to thank Magus Visual, Take 2 and Camerastation for their assistance. Currently the edit is being done. I am looking forward to the grading process. Shot on a Sony EX3. Lit with the most basic lighting kit; blondes and redheads. |
